Program Overview
The Program, titled “Externships for Teachers,” is funded by the Texas Workforce Commission’s Externships for Teachers and aims to provide middle and high school Teachers, Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Teachers, and Institutions of Higher Learning (IHE) Teachers with experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with regional Employers.

The Program’s objectives include providing Teachers with 5 days of participation in Externships with regional Employers, facilitating Pre-Externship Orientation sessions, encouraging the creation of Lesson Plans based on Externship experiences, and fostering collaboration between Education and Industry.

Teacher Responsibilities
Attendance: Teachers agree to participate in the Program for a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) days, during the summer of 2024.

Pre-Externship Orientation: Teachers must attend a Pre-Externship Orientation to understand Program requirements and expectations.

Externship Activities: During the Externship, Teachers will engage in activities at Employer worksites, maintaining a Time Log as evidence of their participation and learning outcomes.

Post-Externship Workshop: Following the Externship, Teachers will attend a Post-Externship Workshop to discuss outcomes, create Lesson Plans, and evaluate their experiences.

Lesson Plans: Teachers will develop Lesson Plans based on Externship experiences, aligning with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and engaging students in real-world applications.

Collaboration and Feedback: Teachers will collaborate with Employers, maintain an Activities Journal, and provide feedback through Evaluations to enhance future Externship projects.

Acknowledgement
By accepting, Teachers acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of the terms and responsibilities outlined in this Agreement.
