1. Workforce Development Specialist – Resource Room
The Workforce Development Specialist reports directly to the Career Services Lead and is responsible for providing administrative support for Career Services functions. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with all staff. Shares pertinent customer information to ensure quality customer service. Position requires general administrative duties, including but not limited to, reviewing, maintenance, monitoring, processing, tracking, filing, data entry, etc. as delineated below:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to::
- Greets job seekers and employers at the reception area of the resource room.
- Uses the Virtual Operating System (VOS) Greeter system to accurately assign customers to the appropriate workforce center staff.
- Follows established procedures ensuring veterans receive priority of service.
- Provides quality customer service by circulating continuously through the resource room, responding promptly to customer requests for assistance, and observing customers’ computer screens.
- Assists job seekers in completing the online job seeker registration in WorkInTexas.com (WIT) to obtain optimum results, ensuring completeness and quality by instructing them on entering information reflecting work qualifications based on experience, training, skills, abilities, interests and other factors relevant to proper selection for referral to suitable job openings.
Successful applicants should have the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Candidate must possess a demonstrated proficiency in both verbal and written communications and basic computer skills and be a self-starter.
- Strong organizational skills are essential.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation. Occasional travel using personal vehicle required.
2. TRS Mentor, Provider Services Specialist – Child Care
The Texas Rising Star Mentor is responsible for assisting child care and early learning programs with all processes related to participation in the Texas Rising Star (TRS) program. Serve as a liaison with the Child Care Regulation Division. Will also work collaboratively and cooperatively with all staff of the One-Stop Center System.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to::
- Provides technical assistance and coaching support to assist child care and early learning programs in attaining, maintaining, and improving Texas Rising Star certification status
- Provides consultation in the development and implementation of the Continuous Quality Improvement Plan (CQIP) and regularly reviews each program’s plan with the director
- Models best practices and provides constructive feedback for program directors and teachers
- Delivers targeted and individualized training
- Refers programs to other helpful resources and training
- Assists child care and early learning programs with improving their level of quality through ongoing assessment, self-reflection, coaching, and tailored technical assistance
Successful applicants should have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science OR
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science with at least 12 credit hours in child development OR
- An associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science AND two years of suitable experience in early childhood education as determined by the Board. Suitable experience in early childhood may include, but is not limited to:
- Working in a child care and early learning program;
- Providing early childhood coaching or mentoring;
- Owning or operating a child care and early learning program; and
- Teaching college coursework in early childhood
- Must have and maintain valid Texas driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation
