Local Unemployment Rate
Unemployment Rates rose in September according to the newest release of Texas Labor Market Information. The troublesome results showed an increased rate of unemployment in each county throughout the Panhandle last month.
What does this mean?
According to the Texas Workforce Commission “The increase was due to the civilian labor force shrinking as the number of individuals actively looking for work contracted, while the unemployed rose.” In the last 4 months the local unemployment rate in Amarillo and the surrounding areas have steadily declined, however last month’s results break that trend.
